
Yard Associate
Job Description
The Yard Team Member is responsible for assisting all customers in the yard with their product needs while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized environment.
They play an important role as they generally are the first and last contact with our customers.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Greeting all customers in a friendly manner with 60 seconds
• Approaching and interacting with all customers within 15 feet
• Assist all customers in finding products and offering product knowledge to enhance their shopping experience
• Anticipate the customer’s project and suggest additional products to meet customer’s needs using the SMART, customer service standard (Seek, Make assessment, Add-ons, Review customer needs, Thank them)
• Assisting all customers to load product into their vehicles
• Completing the daily cleaning and upkeep of the yard, including culling lumber, organizing and flat stacking lumber, price and product labelling & maintaining pallets and stock
• Keeping a clean and safe working environment for customers and employees
• Ensuring always in compliance with WorkSafe Standards
• Be proactively aware of all promotions and product availability
• Completing opening and closing duties for the yard.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Forklift Certification or Previous Experience on Forklift are an asset
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
• Must be able and willing to work in all types of weather conditions
• A Passion for Customer Service with a “go above and beyond” attitude
• Demonstrates a willingness to learn about products
• Able to lift at least 50 lbs
• Detail orientated and strong attention to following safe work practices
• Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Previous lumber, construction and/or retail experience is an asset
