Power the Future of the Columbia Basin – Join Us as a Work Planner

Columbia Basin Trust is seeking a Work Planner – Power Generation to help power the future of the Columbia Basin. This role is responsible for planning and scheduling preventive and corrective maintenance activities at our shared hydroelectric assets with Columbia Power: Waneta Expansion, Brilliant Expansion and Arrow Lakes. As a Work Planner, you’ll collaborate with Engineering, Operations and Maintenance teams to deliver high-quality job plans, coordinate materials and permits, and support safe, reliable plant operations. You’ll also help establish new processes within our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Maximo.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Castlegar, where you’ll enjoy a collaborative and supportive team environment and the unique lifestyle of the West Kootenay region.

Salary Range: $108,700 – $127,900

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Operations & Maintenance, you will:

  • Embed hazard controls, permits, PPE, and lockout/tagout requirements into job plans and work packages.
  • Plan and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance activities with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering teams.
  • Support small capital projects by defining scope, estimating resources, identifying risks and sequencing tasks.
  • Maintain forward-looking schedules, manage backlog and conduct scenario analysis.
  • Facilitate weekly planning meetings, publish schedules and metrics, and align contractor activities with safety protocols.

What We’re Looking For

  • Technical diploma in mechanical, electrical or industrial technology, or Red Seal trade with maintenance planning experience.
  • 3-5+ years of maintenance planning and scheduling in a utility or heavy industrial environment (hydroelectric preferred).
  • Knowledge of plant systems (generators, turbines, medium/low voltage equipment).
  • Experience with CMMS (e.g., Maximo, SAP) and scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with acceptable record.
  • Proven ability to develop detailed job plans including scope, steps, tools, parts, and QA criteria.
