The RDKB is currently seeking applications to fill one seasonal, full-time Wildfire Mitigation Specialist position for the Boundary Region.

Reporting to the Emergency Program Coordinator, Wildfire Mitigation Specialists (WMS) are responsible for the facilitation of the FireSmart BC Wildfire Mitigation Program within their area of designation.

Wildfire Mitigations Specialists ensure that homeowners can access detailed FireSmart home assessments which enable residents to reduce their risk of wildfire.

Specialists will also attend community events, such as farmers markets and fairs, to provide education and enrolment opportunities in their communities.

This Wildfire Mitigation Specialist position will work within and provide service across the below region:

• Rock Creek to Big White (Hwy 33)

The Wildfire Mitigation Specialist position will suit experienced fire, forestry and natural resource management personnel.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working both autonomously and as well as part of a remote team, to provide excellent service to their community.

This is a seasonal position, working from May – October.

The successful applicant who does not already possess the required FireSmart training and certifications will be required to complete mandatory training upon hiring.
