Role and Objectives:

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Red Seal Welder is responsible for providing welding as well as fabrication services to support the maintenance and repair of equipment and infrastructure. This position requires an experienced, self-motivated individual who can work independently, solve problems creatively, and produce high-quality welded components. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to fabricate and design custom solutions as needed for various projects and repairs. 

Responsibilities:

Welding & Fabrication:

  • Perform welding and fabrication work on various equipment and infrastructure as needed, ensuring high-quality, durable results.
  • Create custom parts, components, or structures to meet specific requirements, using your skills to troubleshoot and solve mechanical issues.
  • Design and fabricate solutions for unique challenges, often requiring innovative thinking and hands-on problem-solving.
  • Work with a variety of metals, including steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, ensuring the appropriate welding techniques are used.

Independence & Initiative:

  • Be a self-starter who can work independently and with minimal supervision, managing your time and tasks effectively.
  • Take the lead on welding and fabrication projects from start to finish, ensuring that deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Assess needs, determine solutions, and take action without constant oversight.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with the maintenance team and other departments to understand welding and fabrication requirements.
  • Provide technical advice and support to other team members when needed.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with the Maintenance Manager to ensure workflow continuity.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring safe working conditions for yourself and others.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, keeping tools and equipment in good working order.
  • Follow relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards for welding and fabrication.
  • Understand and comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as requested or required.

Requirements:

  • Red Seal Welder certification (required).
  • Proven experience in welding and fabrication, with a solid understanding of different materials, welding methods, and equipment.
  • Ability to create custom fabrications and find creative solutions to complex mechanical issues.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and think on your feet.
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality control in your work.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a welder, with a focus on both welding and fabrication.
  • Previous experience working independently with limited supervision.

Working Conditions:

  • Overtime as required
  • Occasional travel between locations for on-site welding and fabrication needs

Compensation Package:

  • Wage: $47.00 per hour
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
