Job Description

Society for the Protection and Care of Seniors (SPCS) is a non-profit, volunteer based Seniors’ Health Care advocacy group located in the Greater Trail, West Kootenay, British Columbia, Canada.

Our mission is to advocate and pursue options for adequate, affordable, accessible and safe continuing care resources and services for seniors within their immediate communities.

To keep SPCS strong and functioning smoothly, we are seeking community members willing to step into important executive roles. The time commitment is approximately 4 – 6 hours a month, and we only meet nine times a year, but the impact on our Society is huge. Training and support are provided.

These two‑year terms will be filled at our May AGM.

Available Executive Positions:

Directors at Large Bylaw 6.2: Directors elected or appointed to positions beyond those specifically described in the Bylaws serve as directors at large.

Role of Vice-President
Bylaw 6.4: The vice-president serves as vice-chair of the Board and steps in to carry out the duties of the president if the president is unable to act. These duties include:

Chairing meetings
Holding signing authority
Assisting other directors in carrying out their responsibilities
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys teamwork and supporting smooth operations.

Role of Registrar
Bylaw 6.8: The registrar is responsible for:

Maintaining the Society’s membership register
Providing membership reports to Directors and General Meetings
Preparing and submitting required Society Act reports to the Registrar of Companies
Circulating notices, articles, emails, and other communications to members
This role suits someone who is organized and comfortable with basic record‑keeping.

SPCS has been active in the Greater Trail area since 2006. Our mission continues to be to advocate and pursue options for adequate, affordable, accessible and safe continuing care resources and services for seniors within their immediate communities. We accomplish this by advocating, communicating and disseminating information and educating.
Our great success is only due to our excellent team of volunteers and members. We have a base of volunteers that work not only in our group, but in many other volunteer groups.
