Role and Objectives:

The Utility Construction Carpenter will perform physically demanding tasks on active outdoor job sites and will operate a variety of hand and power tools in support of construction activities. Responsibilities include the on-site assembly and installation of structural and utility components. The successful candidate will contribute to the safe and efficient completion of construction projects by following established building practices, safety protocols, and company procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Perform physically demanding labor on active outdoor construction sites in various weather conditions
• Assemble and install structural components, framing, supports, and utility systems according to project specifications
• Assist with layout and measurements for accurate placement of materials and structures
• Use a variety of hand and power tools (e.g., saws, drills, impact drivers, levels, nail guns) to cut, shape, and fasten materials
• Support the installation of utility infrastructure such as conduit, piping, electrical boxes, or other service-related components
• Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and layout instructions to ensure accurate installation
• Assist Carpenters, Electricians, Plumbers, and other trades in the coordination and execution of site work
• Safely operate machinery or assist equipment operators with material placement, lifting, or movement
• Load, unload, and transport building materials and tools across job sites as needed
• Maintain a clean and organized job site, ensuring work areas are free of hazards and debris
• Identify and report potential safety issues, defects, or inconsistencies in materials or work performed
• Follow established safety protocols, wear required PPE, and comply with all site safety regulations
• Perform basic site prep and finishing work including digging, leveling, sanding, or sealing as required
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report any damage or malfunctions
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment by communicating effectively and assisting others as needed

Requirements:

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
• Post-Secondary diploma in a related field preferred
• (1) years of experience as a General Labourer/Carpenter
• Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
• Knowledge of First Aid and CPR preferred.
• Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
• Effective verbal and listening communications skills.
• Time management skills
• Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and other technical diagrams.
• Critical eye for identifying defects.
• Commitment to quality and safety
• Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current.
• Respect diversity – treat others with respect.
• Avoid unnecessary conflict.
• Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and the tools required in various assembly processes.
• Strong working mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Ability to readily determine the correct tools and equipment needed to do a job.
• Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labour.

Compensation Package:

• Wage: Starting at $28.50
• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm
