Teck is looking for an experienced Technician, Technical Services, Trail (TST) – (Temporary 16 months) to join our team at our Trail Operations, one of the world’s largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes. Initially reporting to the Microbiologist, the Technician, Technical Services, Trail (TST), carries out and provides accurate experimental data for assigned projects.
This position is in the Environmental Technologies group.
This role is based in the welcoming community of Trail, situated in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia. Here you will find outdoor adventure at your fingertips! Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Conduct environmental, metallurgical, and chemical procedures and specialized laboratory techniques under minimal supervision
- Assist with the design of, construct, assemble, maintain, operate, and troubleshoot equipment used for laboratory, mini pilot plant, and pilot plant process simulations
- Contribute to the success of technical investigations by providing input into the planning of experimental test work
- Collect and record raw experimental data and observations; use various computer programs to process data; summarize and prepare test reports of findings for use in the preparation of technical memoranda, file notes, or formal reports and the engineering of the processes being examined
- Use various types of laboratory and pilot-scale process equipment or adjust plant operating conditions in the course of a test program; monitor and troubleshoot processes, sample, and conduct appropriate chemical and physical analyses; measure process variables, change input variables; ensure QA/QC standards are met and protocols are followed for sampling and analysis
- Conduct test work and surveys at other Teck operations as part of a project team
Qualifications:
- Graduate of a recognized Institute of Technology or University in metallurgical, mineral processing or chemical sciences with 3 to 4 years of relevant work experience is required
- Demonstrated familiarity with metallurgical, mineralogical and/or water treatment technologies at bench and pilot plant scales is a requirement for this role
- Experience working in laboratory mineral processing, water treatment, environment or operations would be an asset
- Possess computer skills including familiarity with MS Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Team player with good communication skills is essential
- Travel for offsite work is a requirement for this role

Salary Range: $43.23 /Hour
