Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The snowboard instructor & trainer position is responsible for providing safe, fun and professional lessons, for clients of all ages and abilities. Instructors must be polite, patient, understanding and have a positive attitude. You will also be responsible for the staff in-house training sessions. Our training program runs for 10 weeks on a weekly basis, with a focus on developing our instructors’ teaching and riding capabilities, so that our clients get the best lesson possible.

MAJOR RESPONSBILITIES

Customer Service
Arrive on time, dressed and ready to work
Professional appearance
Emphasize safety in all actions and in lessons
Listen to the customer and cater the lessons to their needs
Clearly communicate lesson goals and tactics
Provide personal attention and personal skill development
Review lesson and suggest further skill development options
Product Knowledge
In-depth knowledge of all Snow School products: lessons, specialty and school group programs
Promote, market and sell products
Be familiar with all resort products, services and offerings
Follow Snow School Operating Procedures
Staff Relations
Ability to work as a team and independently
Good relations with other departments: lift operators, food and beverage, patrol, ticket office, maintenance, group sales and marketing
Respect for all fellow staff at Red Mountain Resort
Training
Providing weekly training sessions to our snowboard staff
Be up to date with the current CASI core values and apply this to training sessions
Evaluating instructors’ lessons where scheduled, providing written and verbal feedback for staff evaluations
Open and regular communication with Director, Assistant Director and Lead Hands

KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education

Minimum CASI Level 3
CASI Evaluator certification (Level 1 or higher) an asset
CASI Park certifications an asset

Experience

Previous staff training experience
Previous experience in Training a GAP/Intern program
Previous experience working in a snow sports school or teaching/coaching/leading

Physical and Other Requirements

Excellent physical condition
Professional appearance, wearing staff uniform and identification
Be up to date with the current CASI core values and apply this to training sessions

Ability to withstand long winter days in varying weather and conditions
Sustain high energy throughout the day
Exceptional interpersonal skills
