Job Description

The City of Trail is inviting applications to fill a contract Skate Park Host position with the Trail Parks and Recreation Department for the summer months of July and August at the Trail Skate Park. This contract position requires the candidate to have the ability to work daytime hours during the week for flexible shifts up to 14 hours per week.

The Skate Park Host is responsible for creating a safe and fun environment for children, youth and adults as well as the supervision and instruction of skateboarding at the Trail Skate Park. The Skate Park Host is also responsible for communicating and ensuring patrons understand and follow the rules and regulations of the skate park while acting as a positive role model and representative of the Trail Parks and Recreation Department. The Skate Park Host will be responsible for daily operations, which include program planning, skateboard instruction, equipment maintenance and distribution, and managing potential safety risks.

Required qualifications include:
• Valid CPR/First Aid Certification.
• Previous experience working with children and adults in sport or recreation programs.
• Excellent customer service and public relation skills.
• Sound skating ability and knowledge of safe skating practices.
• Ability to effectively interact with people of all ages and engage them in a fun, positive skating experience.
• National Coaching Certificate Program certificate, skating certifications, recreation leadership training, would be considered an asset.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to deal with conflict and enforce facility policies.
• Work well in a team and with a high level of creativity and flexibility.
• Criminal Record Check
