Senior Structural Designer
Job Description
Wood is currently seeking a Senior Structural Designer to join our Mining & Minerals team in Trail, British Columbia.
The Senior Structural designer will apply extensive and comprehensive knowledge of structural design principles and practices to the organization’s products and services. This role has overall responsibility for providing Structural Design support on heavy industrial, power & mining projects.
Reporting to the Engineering Department Manager, this position will require working in the location of Trail, British Columbia, just 3 hours from Kelowna BC and 6.5 hours to Vancouver BC.
Our office provides full engineering, procurement and construction services on a wide variety of industrial projects related to mining, mineral development and processing and hydroelectric generation. Additionally, our engineering team and companywide environmental specialists are focused on Carbon Management & reduction initiatives to provide solutions to energy services to reduce emissions and protect our environment.
The Trail office currently numbers over 50 engineers, designers and support personnel. Trail is an affordable family-oriented community. The area offers excellent education and health care facilities, as well as access to world class outdoor adventures such as skiing, mountain biking, fishing, hiking along with beautiful landscapes.

Salary Range: CDN: 120,000 – 150,000 per year

RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop structural/architectural drawings from conceptual to detailed design, and project construction drawings
Develop 3D structural/architectural models using Microstation V8, 3D AutoCAD and E3D
Coordinate work with other related discipline engineers and designers
Work closely with supervisor and checkers from start to completion of tasks/projects and in a team environment with other disciplines
Operating within the company’s Quality system and Safety Policy in all phases of assignments
QUALIFICATIONS
Technical Diploma in Civil/Structural
Minimum 10 years’ experience in a Structural Designer role within heavy industrial or mining & metals
Minimum 5 years AutoCAD and 3 years PDMS, E3D
Knowledge of other 3D software will be an asset
Knowledge with using MS Office applications
Excellent communication skills
Authorization to work lawfully in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
