Rentals Technician
Job Description
This position is responsible for outfitting guests with rental equipment appropriate for their skier/boarder type and skill level, with a mandate to provide as safe a guest experience as possible and create a fun and positive environment.
MAJOR RESPONSBILITIES
• Customer Service
o Efficiently guide customer through rental process and accept payment
o Ensure rental agreements are completely filled out (to satisfy legal requirements)
o Create a professional, positive impression for the beginner and seasoned guest alike
o Maintain an orderly, safe and fun environment
o Be knowledgeable about all Red Sports rental equipment and its proper use
o Ensure guest understands how to operate bindings
o Answer guests’ questions and concerns
Equipment Set-up
o Collect and document guest’s personal statistics (height, weight, age, skier/boarder ability level)
o Provide guest with appropriate equipment based on guest’s statistics
o Accurately adjust bindings according to industry standard (must have binding certification)
Processing School Groups
o Preset skis for large groups the day before arrival
o Transfer skis to outside racks in morning, prior to group’s arrival
o Set up students with equipment who were not on preset list; record all information
o Maintain orderly and steady flow of line up; process group quickly and efficiently
o Accurately record student/parent/teacher attendance
o Communicate group numbers and details to cashier for invoicing
Additional Tasks
o Maintain clean, tidy, safe workspace
o Relieve other staff for breaks (retail, service, high performance)
o Inventory equipment
o Restock supplies
o Wax and/or tune equipment as per service technician’s instructions
KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education
• High School diploma
• Post secondary education an asset
• Supervisory Training an asset
Experience
• Binding certification required (training provided).
• Ski and/or snowboard product knowledge
• Knowledge of Red Mountain Resort and its history an asset
• Knowledge of Rossland and its history an asset
• Customer service experience required
• Cash handling and POS transaction processing required
• Rental shop experience required
Physical and Other Requirements
• Able to negotiate stairs
• Able to lift heavy ski and snowboard equipment up to and down from racking systems and benches
• Able to adjust ski and snowboard equipment
• Able to be on feet for entire shift
