Job Description

Based in beautiful Trail, BC, on the traditional territory of the Sinixt, Ktunaxa, Syilx and Secwepemc peoples, the Skills Centre is hiring a part-time Commercial Cleaner to start on July 2, 2024.  The position pays $25.35/hr plus generous health, dental and RRSP benefits. This position is based at the Skills Centre newly renovated office building in downtown Trail.  The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and possess a strong work ethic. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a clean and safe environment for our employees, clients, and visitors.

**Responsibilities**

  1. Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming floors and surfaces.
  2. Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and fixtures, to ensure they meet hygiene standards.
  3. Empty trash bins and dispose of waste in designated areas.
  4. Separate recyclable materials for proper disposal.
  5. Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors to maintain a polished appearance.
  6. Refill restroom supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper as needed.
  7. Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, reporting any shortages or malfunctions.
  8. Assist in developing cleaning routines and protocols for our newly renovated building.
  9. Follow safety protocols and use protective equipment when handling cleaning chemicals and when otherwise required.
  10. Adhere to cleaning schedules and prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance.
  11. Keep records of cleaning activities.
  12. Notify management of any maintenance issues or safety hazards observed during cleaning duties.
  13. Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to ensure a cohesive and efficient cleaning operation.

**Requirements**

  1. Previous experience in commercial cleaning or related field preferred.
  2. Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and chemicals.
  3. Ability to lift and move heavy objects and equipment safely.
  4. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards.
  5. Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently.
  6. Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
  7. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  8. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  9. Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  10. Ability to complete a criminal record check.

**Working Conditions**

– Part-time position, 25.5 hours per week.
