
Parks & Trail Maintenance Worker
Job Description
Under direction from the Regional Parks and Trails Operations Supervisor, the Parks and Trail Maintenance Worker will have an opportunity to experience our unique and diverse 27 Regional parks, trails and recreational areas.
Based at the Nelson office, staff will support general Parks and trail operations and maintenance.
Start and end dates may vary depending on seasonal timing and funding
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Grade 12
• Minimum two years of experience in the related field experience would be considered an asset
• Basic to moderate skill in carpentry, construction and use of power tools
• Chainsaw and brush saw safety certificate is an asset
• Ability to work alone and demonstrate both independent and collaborative problem solving skills
• Ability to act with tact and diplomacy when dealing with the public
• Proficient computer and written communication skills
• WHMIS Certification
• Valid Class 5 Drivers License with no restrictions
• Satisfactory Drivers Abstract
• Valid First Aid level 1
• Satisfactory criminal record
PHYSICIAL DEMANDS
• Constant movement, including stooping, bending, reaching, twisting and kneeling
• Working alone in remote areas
• Occasional requirement camp overnight in remote locations
• Exposure to varied weather
• Occasional lifting up to 25 kg
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week.
The wage for this position is a range from $29.27 to $33.27 commensurate with experience.
