Job Description

We are looking for an Operations Supervisor: Chipping & Grinding to join our BC Eco Industrial Services team, leading Chipping and Grinding operations across multiple sites. This is a remote position based in either the West Kootenay, Okanagan or Boundary Country region and requiring travel to various work sites throughout British Columbia and Alberta. The Operations Supervisor works closely with the General Manager to provide the resources necessary to safely and successfully meet the expectations of our clients and team members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensuring all actions incorporate “Sutherland Group Core Values” of Curious and Adaptable, Trustworthy, Humbly Confident, Better Together and Make it Happen while working on behalf of the company.
  • Provide leadership to field operation teams across multiple locations with the goal of meeting job performance requirements.
  • Work with the General Manager and all employees to establish and implement consistent daily/weekly/monthly maintenance programs.
  • Provide leadership and direction to team members with the goal of meeting the job performance requirements of the work contracts obtained by the company.
  • Responsible for performance management and addressing employee relations issues in collaboration with Human Resources.
  • Act as Safety Lead ensuring all required safe work practices and reporting are being followed and completed by all team members.
  • Coach and mentor supervisors and employees to meet production targets as set by senior management and customers.
  • Work with customers, supervisors, employees, and senior management to analyze operations for opportunities to improve production and efficiencies.
  • Ensure timely reporting of incidents/accidents and/or injuries to internal and external parties, assist employees with modified duties and ensure return-to-work placements are conducted productively and consistently.
  • Provide direction to all Site Supervisors/Team Leaders/employees on completing daily equipment checks and reporting all required and completed maintenance is reported to the Fleet Manager.
  • Provide data for the Chipping and Grinding KPI scorecard.
  • Monitor and adjust staff levels as required by the changing job conditions and workloads.
  • Travel to various job sites within BC and Alberta up to 50% of the time.
  • Ensure company policies, core values and culture are being consistently upheld.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

As a member of the BC Eco Industrial Services team, we expect you to bring the following to the table:

  • Minimum 5 years of operations management experience
  • Diploma in business, forestry, management or a related field
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends or holidays, depending on the requirements of the job.
  • Ability to travel to various job sites within BC and Alberta, up to 50% of the time.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to assist with repairs.
  • Knowledge in aspects of forestry or related operations are an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple job sites at once.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with critical thinking, analytical skills and ability to make decisions.
  • Microsoft Office proficient, with ability to analyze and create documents in MS Excel.
  • Ability to analyze P&L statements.
