Job Description
Teck is looking for a Metallurgical Engineering Co-op Student to join the team at our Trail Operations, one of the world’s largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes. Teck Trail produces zinc, lead, silver, cadmium, indium, fertilizers, sulphuric acid and other products. The diversity of the operations offers many exciting technical opportunities to engineers. Proof of a valid work permit will also be required, if applicable.

Trail Operations is one of the world’s largest fully integrated lead-zinc smelting and refining complexes. This site has over 26 different operating plants and processes concentrates and other materials from around the world to produce more than 290,000 tpy of refined zinc and 70,000 tpy of refined lead.

Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and participate in the health and safety programs of Teck to ensure that everyone on site goes home safe and healthy every day
- Comfortable working in a dynamic industrial work environment with a range of engineering, technical and operational personnel
- Demonstrate ability to capture and analyze data to identify key trends and determine root cause
- Willingness to participate in day-to-day troubleshooting in an operating plant, process simulation and optimization, and laboratory test work
- Participation in the health and safety programs of Teck to ensure that everyone on site goes home safe and healthy every day
- Comfortable working in a dynamic industrial work environment with a range of engineering, technical and operational personnel
- Demonstrate ability to gather and analyze data to identify key trends and determine root cause
- Willingness to participate in day-to-day troubleshooting in an operating plant, process simulation and optimization, and laboratory test work
Qualifications
- Working towards an undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in Metallurgical, Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate complex ideas
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
- All students will be required to complete pre-employment drug testing prior to commencing
Wage Range: $4600 – $5900 / Month
Salary is commensurate with the number of academic semesters and prior co-op experiences completed.
