About Us
I/O Design & Engineering Ltd. believes in building strong relationships by responsibly solving complex problems. As mechanical engineering consultants, we specialize in small brownfield projects related to mechanical, automation and structural engineering utilizing the latest 3D scanning and design software. We are seeking a collaborative, team-oriented mechanical designer with a passion for problem solving.
What You Will Do
As a mechanical designer you will collaborate with engineers, drafters and client contacts to develop mechanical designs from concept through to detailed drawings. Your responsibilities will include:
• Conduct field measurements and 3D laser scanning to gather relevant information during site visits.
• Register and work with 3D scan data as part of the design process.
• Understand client requirements, critically analyse situations and collaborate with engineers to create simple concepts.
• Convert concepts to well organized 3D CAD models using Autodesk Inventor.
• Conduct detailed drawing checks to ensure accuracy and clarity of information presented.
• Communicate with manufacturers, fabricators and suppliers to select equipment.
• Maintain accurate project records across several software platforms.
• Ensure projects adhere to company standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
What You Bring
• 0-5 years of experience in mechanical design and/ or CAD modelling, preferably in an engineering or industrial environment.
• Diploma or degree in mechanical design technology or engineering design and drafting technology.
• Fundamental understanding of the mechanical design and steel fabrication.
• Strong communication skills and confidence to collaborate with engineers, tradespeople and operators through verbal and written communication.
• Proficient computer skills, particularly with Microsoft products and CAD software.
• Ability to work independently with a keen attention to detail through self-checking.
• Willingness to visit high-hazard industrial facilities and ability to lead safe work in these environments and lift 60 lbs.
• Experience in Autodesk Inventor, Leica 3D laser scanners and Cyclone software, and hands-on fabrication experience considered an asset.
