Job Description
RED Mountain Resort is currently hiring for a Lift Operation Supervisor to join the team beginning immediately. They will report to and work closely with the Lift Operations Manager to support the leadership and management of the Lift Operations department. The position is responsible for supporting all aspects of Lift Operations including staff management, recruitment, training, safety and experience.
MAJOR RESPONSBILITIES
Lift Operations
- Ensure guests and employees are treated courteously, safely and efficiently when utilizing the lift systems.
- In collaboration with the Manager, provide supervision and guidance to employees as required in accordance with RED Mountain policies, collective agreement and employment laws.
- Provide support in the recruitment, hiring and onboarding for lift operations.
- Complete daily and weekly payroll tasks for all lift operation employees, imputing daily times worked, sign in and out and pursuing correction when necessary.
- Assist with establishing and maintaining a high standard of safe lift operations, ensuring tools are in good working order, signage is present, mazes are functional, and lift stations are equipped to operate daily.
- Assisting in maintaining and re-building lift loading and unloading ramps, as well as shoveling snow and ice around stations.
- Provide comprehensive training for all new and returning staff. Training of staff in the preseason and continue through the season as required.
- Assist in daily scheduling for all employees, ensuring appropriately trained staff are at each lift station daily.
- Managing the daily operations of the lifts and staffing while the Manager is not on site.
- Resolving any staff conflict in a professional and fair manner. Reporting any relevant situation to the Lift Operations Manager.
- Ensuring all lift stations are clean, neat and free of clutter, removing recycling and waste from on mountain
- Knowing and keeping up to date with health and safety regulations and safe work procedures.
- Effectively dealing with customer complaints in a polite and efficient manner.
- Communicating regularly and effectively with all other managers and employees at RED.
- Performing other duties as required.
KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education
- Certificate or Diploma in a related discipline such as Ski Resort Operations Management.
- Lift Operation courses as required by Technical Safety BC.
Experience
- At least 2 years experience in Lift Operations, including at least 1-year supervisory experience.
- Must show a strong commitment to safety and have knowledge of safety procedures including WorkSafe BC and Technical Safety BC requirements.
- Must be comfortable speaking in front of large groups and have excellent facilitation and training skills.
- Experience with recruiting and hiring staff is considered an asset.
Physical and Other Requirements
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Intermediate ski or snowboard ability.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Able to work weekends and holidays.
- Available for early morning starts as required for avalanche control.

- Strong interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with managers, supervisors and co-workers. Able to work effectively with all departments.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to provide timely and high-quality service to maximize guest and employee experiences.
- The ability to work well under pressure in a high-volume environment.
- Ability to take direction, provide direction and work with minimal supervision.
- Passion for the ski/snowboard industry.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and work in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
