LIFEGUARDS & SWIM INSTRUCTORS
The Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) is inviting applications for the positions of Lifeguards and Swim Instructors at the Castlegar & District Community Complex.
*Employees holding only NL or WSI should express interest, but preference will be given to fully qualified applicants
Thank you for your interest in working with the Regional District of Central Kootenay. All submissions will be acknowledged although only those individuals shortlisted to participate in the interview/ testing process will be contacted. This posting may be used to fill other similar positions within the RDCK over the next six months.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
NL Certification (National Life Guarding Service)
CPR/AED C
WSI Certification (Water Safety Instructor)
Standard First Aid or equivalent (AEC preferred)
*certifications should be current and not set to expire for a minimum of three months.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the methods, tools, and equipment used in life guarding
Knowledge of life guarding rules, regulations and practices
Knowledge of WHMIS procedures
Knowledge and ability to give first aid, CPR/AED
Knowledge of emergency procedures
Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public
Ability to work with minimal supervision, exercise considerable independence of judgment / action in the operation of the aquatic center
Multiple positions are available.
These are part-time, positions and the successful applicants will work up to 24 hours per week. The successful candidates must be available to work a varied work schedule based on operational demands that includes day, weekend, and/or evening shifts.
These are union positions and the current rate of pay when working as a Lifeguard is $21.82 and when working as a Swim Instructor is $22.62 per hour as per the collective agreement. An additional 15% in lieu of benefits will be added to every pay cheque.
