As an integrated resource planning manager, you’ll bring together leaders and experts from across the company and externally to complete the Long-Term Electric Resource Plan. Reporting to the manager, integrated resource planning this position focuses on long-term customer and demand forecasting, identifying resource needs in demand-side management and energy supply, Indigenous community and interested party engagement,  and preparing action plans for submission to the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC).

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of energy industry issues impacting long term utility planning, including plans and planning processes undertaken by other utilities in the region.
  • Prepare reports and regulatory submissions for the FortisBC’s Long-Term Resource Plans, obtaining senior executive approval for submission to and review by BCUC review.
  • Successfully lead the BCUC regulatory proceeding in reviewing the Long-Term Electric Resource Plan.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to complete long-term resource planning and resource development related studies, investigations and report writing.
  • Maintain a detailed technical understanding of forecasting methods,  and inputs and outputs to drive continuous improvement in long-term customer and load forecasting. Additionally, you’ll advise senior management and the executive team on long-term forecast methods and results.
  • Effectively manage the activities and progress of working groups to complete special projects and initiatives related to the Long-Term Resource Plans.

What it takes:

  • A bachelor’s degree in resource planning, economics, environmental studies, engineering, policy, business, or a related discipline, plus a minimum of five years of recent and related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education, related training, and experience may be considered.
  • A valid B.C. driver’s license.
  • Project Management Professional designation or working toward designation is an asset.
  • Experience with the natural gas and/or energy industry in the Pacific Northwest is an asset.
  • Comfortable working through periods of uncertainty or ambiguity
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to clearly explain complex issues.

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
