Job Description

We are seeking coaches for a new U16 hockey team for the West Kootenays. This is a volunteer based position, however, we will reimburse coaches for travel expenses to showcases and tournaments, including: meals, gas and hotel costs as per our agreement.

Applicants should have a good understanding of hockey being played at a U16 competitive level.
Previous coaching experience an asset but not required. As this is a private team, thus considered ‘unsanctioned’ by Hockey Canada and BC Hockey, coaches do not need to have Hockey Canada coaching credentials to coach.
Applicants must have good communication skills, be willing to collaborate and work well with youth.

A criminal record check for working with youth will be required before being awarded the position.

We are a new private hockey club, based out of Trail BC. The team will be playing in the Premier Hockey League, based out of Alberta, against teams across BC and Alberta. The league playing format is based on 6 showcases throughout the season, roughly equating to one travel weekend per month between September and March. There is also a tournament in Calgary on Dec 27-29th and a final league championship tournament at the end of March. The ice practice schedule will be determined with the coaching team. We will have one ice time per week with KorHockeyDevelopment to focus on skill development. Additionally the players will receive dryland training through Elevate Athletics in Trail or The Sports Lab in Nelson.
