
Health Care Aide (HCA)
Job Description
We are seeking a qualified Health Care Aide (HCA) to join our Nursing Care team at Rocky Mountain Village in Fernie, B.C.
The successful candidate will support residents with activities of daily living, monitor and report changes to Nursing staff, and promote the highest level of care possible.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other care staff to ensure effective delivery of services to residents.
- Assist with activities of daily living for residents.
- Promote dignity and individuality of each resident by acknowledging their unique needs.
- Perform delegated clinical procedures while recording observations and reporting problems to Nurse in charge.
- Support residents and families during admission, discharge or transfer process through introducing them to the environment and other staff and residents within the neighborhood.
- Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain a comfortable environment for residents and families.
- Assist with feeding and kitchen-related tasks.

Qualifications
- SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF RECOGNIZED HEALTH CARE AIDE PROGRAM; REGISTRATION WITH THE BC HEALTH CARE AIDE REGISTRY IS REQUIRED.
- Strong team player able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to perform physical demands including extended periods of walking and standing.
- Able to carry out significant lifting, carrying, bending and reaching – with appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Provide a negative TB screening test.
- Immunization Record as outlined in the BC Centre for Disease Control for Health Care workers.
- Vulnerable sector-criminal record check clearance.

$29.83 per hour compensation; position falls under provincial wage-levelling.
