Role and Objectives:

The Financial Accountant is a key contributor to both operational and strategic decision-making by translating financial insights into actionable recommendations, enabling informed decisions that support business growth and operational efficiency.

The Financial Accountant is responsible for detailed financial analysis, project and job costing, and the preparation of clear, insightful management reports that provide strong financial visibility across the business. By connecting financial results to real-world operations, this role helps ensure Kalesnikoff continues to build efficiently, sustainably, and successfully.

 

Responsibilities:

Financial Planning & Analysis:

  • Prepare the annual operating budget, capital budget, and quarterly forecasts.
  • Assisting departments in administering their financial planning, budget and forecasting activities.
  • Monitoring and analyze budget variances, providing clear explanations of performance drivers.

Costing & Operational Analysis:

  • Conduct cost analysis and reporting, including materials, labor, overhead, and efficiency drivers.
  • Review, analyze, and report on inventory valuation, including raw materials, WIP and related variances.
  • Support the development, maintenance, and review of standard costs.

Reporting & Month-End Support:

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management reporting packages, including variance analysis, commentary, dashboards, and KPIs.
  • Assist in month-end close activities by providing supporting analysis as required.
  • Support year end audit preparation and reporting.
  • Prepare, analyze, and summarize a wide range of financial information for leadership and cross functional teams.

KPI Development & Decision Support

  • Contribute to the ongoing development, data accumulation, and reporting of KPIs aligned with strategic goals.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and reporting, including trend tracking and capital spending initiatives.
  • Provide financial insights to support operational, project, and strategic decision making.

Governance, Systems & Process Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Support improvements in financial systems, data quality, reporting processes, and business workflows.
  • Collaborate with operations, project management, and other departments to improve financial visibility and operational performance.

 

Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or Commerce
  • Certified Professional Accountant designation in good standing

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of work experience as a Financial Analyst or similar role, ideally in manufacturing, construction, or project-based industries.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Agile and adaptable, able to navigate changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong prioritization and time management, focusing on high-impact activities.
  • Proactive communicator, able to translate financial concepts for non-financial teams.
  • Collaborative, building strong cross-functional partnerships.

  • Business insight and commercial awareness, connecting financial data to operational outcomes.
  • Continuous improvement mindset, identifying opportunities to enhance processes and reporting.
  • Results-oriented, delivering accurate and timely insights that drive decisions.
  • Proficient in ERP systems, accounting software, and advanced Excel for modeling and reporting.
  • Effective team player with strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder management.

 

Compensation Package:

  • Salary: $80,000.00 – 100,000.00 (Dependent on experience)
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday
