Trail FAIR Society has openings to join its Family Services Team covering Trail and Castlegar.  We are accepting applications for a Family Services Team Lead.

FAMILY SERVICES TEAM LEAD

This position is temporary coverage for a maternity leave. The position is 32 – 40 hours per week.  The hours of work are typically between Monday and Friday with some flexibility in scheduling. Remuneration is at FAIR Wage Grid level 14.  For new FAIR employees, Step 1 of the Grid is $33.77 per hour plus benefits as per FAIR policy.  This position reports to the Manager of Family and Seniors Services.

JOB SUMMARY

  • Provides coordination and leadership to the Protective Family Services Team funded by the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD). This includes Family Advancement and Family Counselling services.
  • Liaise with staff to identify and address program concerns and ensure the services are appropriate to the aims and objectives of the contract and the organization.
  • Advise and seek direction from the Executive Director regarding services, contracts, and program and staff concerns including performance concerns.
  • Facilitate team meetings.
  • Maintain records, monitoring and evaluation systems as required and provide information to the Executive Director when requested.
  • Coordinate and manage program budgets.
  • Ensure arising complaints or legal matters arising are reported to the Executive Director.
  • Keep up to date with current policies and ensure service standards comply with relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Monitor / report on the wellbeing, health and safety, training and development of program staff.
  • Promote positive team communication.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • BSW or equivalent
  • Experience working with families with child protection issues (ideally experience providing services funded by MCFD Protective Family Services contract)
  • Excellent leadership skills including the ability to demonstrate respectful communication and problem solving models.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to identify critical issues and prioritize needs and concerns.
  • A current First Aid Certificate

Knowledge of:

  • Ministry of Children and Family Development Child Protection legislation
  • The impact of substance use, mental health issues, family violence and trauma on children and families
  • Best practices in parenting skill development such as attachment- based and positive parenting strategies
  • Community resources for families
  • Proven interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of staff, clients, volunteers, professionals and community members.
  • Thorough knowledge of child development, family dynamics, community resources and current government child care regulations.

A valid BC driver’s license and unrestricted access to a vehicle are required.
