Faculty, Psychology
The School of University Arts and Sciences invites applications for an instructor to teach psychology in person at the Castlegar campus during the 2024-25 academic year. The successful candidate will teach one section of Psychology 100 (Introductory Psychology I) and one section of Psychology 230 (Mental Health and Psychological Disorders I) in the Fall semester. They will teach one section of Psychology 100 and one section of Psychology 231 (Mental Health and Psychological Disorders II) in the winter semester. Further work may be available in the spring 2025 semester.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide in person instruction to students
- Create and maintain a positive learning environment
- Provide constructive and meaningful feedback to students
- Evaluate student progress and achievement
- Ensure the alignment of course outcomes, assessments and evaluation

- A learner-centered teaching philosophy
- Commitment to student success
- Ability to engage students of diverse backgrounds and academic abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Education and Experience
- Minimum of a Master’s degree in Psychology.
- Demonstrated successful teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
- Experience with the Moodle Learning Management System is an asset
This is a short-term, part-time (46%) position commencing approximately August 12, 2024, and ending April 30, 2025, or upon the return of the incumbent. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Selkirk College Faculty Association Collective Agreement. The salary range is $2,709.12 – $4,341.23 bi-weekly (at 100% appointment) and is based on qualifications and experience.
