Job Description
The School of University Arts and Sciences invites applications for a philosophy instructor to teach Philosophy 100—Introductory Philosophy I in the fall 2025 semester. Instructors who are able to teach in person will be given preference, but remote instructors are encouraged to apply as well.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide instruction to students in Philosophy at the 100-level
- Create and maintain a positive learning environment
- Provide constructive and meaningful feedback to students
- Evaluate student progress and achievement
- Ensure the alignment of course outcomes, assessments, and evaluation
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- A commitment to student success
- Ability to engage students with diverse backgrounds and academic abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report including the Calls to Action
Education and Experience
- Minimum of a Master’s degree in Philosophy
- Demonstrated successful teaching experience at the post-secondary level
- Experience with the Moodle (or similar) Learning Management System
Additional Info
This is short-term, part-time (19%) position, commencing August 18, 2025, and ending December 19, 2025. Salary and Benefits are in accordance with the SCFA Collective Agreement. The salary range is $2,709.12 – $4,341.23 bi-weekly (at 100% appointment) and is based on qualifications and experience.
