Faculty, Commercial Law
The School of Business is seeking a Commercial Law instructor for a short-term appointment. This is for instruction in the Business Administration and Post-Graduate Diploma in Accounting programs to teach introductory Commercial Law. The successful candidate will join a team of accomplished business professionals in a very fast-paced and internationalized school. The courses are scheduled for in-person delivery at the Castlegar campus.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver in-person courses in Commercial Law
- Provide instruction to students.
- Develop and deliver teaching strategies and assessments that meet course outcomes and promote learning
- Evaluate students, including providing timely, constructive, and meaningful feedback to students.
- Actively contribute to the college and the school, including participating in school and program meetings.
- Develop or update curriculum according to Selkirk College values, policy, and procedures.
- Maintain positive relationships with colleagues and other members of college staff
- Engage in professional development activities
- Protect student information
- Perform other duties as assigned by the School Chair or Dean
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Teach in-person course delivery experience.
- Develop and use a learning management system, such as Moodle.
- Demonstrate ability to work with students with diverse backgrounds and academic abilities.
- Teach students at the post-secondary level.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Ability to contribute to school and/or college initiatives

- Current accounting experience
Education and Experience
- Master’s degree Business Administration or equivalent
- Preference will be given to applicants who possess two to three years teaching experience in a post-secondary environment
- Industry experience in accounting and/or law is desired
- Chartered Professional Accountant designated preferred
This is a short-term, full-time (100%) position commencing approximately August 19, 2024, and ending December 23, 2024. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Selkirk College Faculty Association Collective Agreement. The salary range is $2,709.12 – $4,341.23 bi-weekly (at 100% appointment) and is based on qualifications and experience.
