Job Description

The City of Trail is actively seeking an experienced leader to fill the role of Facilities Maintenance Manager (FMM).

Reporting to the General Manager of Municipal Services, the FMM will serve as a crucial member of the management team, responsible for coordinating, planning, scheduling, and executing preventive and maintenance programs for all City of Trail facilities.

Additionally, this position oversees operations and capital construction programs for all City facilities. In this management role, the FMM will:

  • plan and manage all municipal building operations, maintenance and capital project;
  • provide day-to-day oversight of all engaged contractors conducting work on City owned facilities and performs routine inspections of work performed;
  • review and assist in developing or modifying work policies, procedures, standards, specifications, and regulations, including emergency workforces and equipment;
  • leads the development, scheduling and organizing of the long-term capital plan related to facilities including capital expenditures, maintenance and improvements from problem identification and budget preparation through tendering and completion;
  • procures Facility Condition Assessment services on a routine basis in order to develop, implement and maintain the facilities asset management plan;
  • ensures safe work procedures are integrated into staff routines, conducts regular safety meetings, and prepares and implements written safety and emergency procedures;
  • cultivate an inclusive and respectful work environment that prioritizes staff development;
  • foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence within their team and across the organization.

The ideal candidate:

  • has progressive experience in planning, design, project management, construction, and facilities maintenance management;
  • has a degree or diploma in Engineering, Facilities Management or Building Technologies, supplemented by courses in Facilities Management;
  • is a strong leader, effective communicator, and has a talent for building and maintaining relationships.

The position offers a targeted salary range of $106,000 to $122,000 annually, supplemented by a competitive benefits package designed to attract and retain top talent in municipal leadership. This is a full-time, on-site, Union exempt position.
