EHS Coordinator
Job Description
Reporting to the Section Leader, Administration & Operations Support, the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator will be responsible for developing and maintaining the EHS program for Technical Services, Trail (TST) and managing major facility improvement projects. As a member of the Technical Services, Processing team, the incumbent will also provide support to the Technical Services, Coquitlam (TSC) safety department as required. This is a short-term temporary employment opportunity (6-months – leave coverage).
Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures, be a courageous safety leader
- Lead hazard-risk assessments and investigate EH&S incidents, unsafe work conditions and injury reports. Initiates corrective actions as required. Specifies appropriate control measures to reduce EH&S risks with projects at TST/TSC and off-site
- Ensure employees comply with EH&S program responsibilities by performing regular system audits and initiating corrective actions as required. Lead internal EH&S audits at TST/TSC
- Effectively monitor and measure the effectiveness of the EH&S system through leading indicators so that any measured system gaps can be closed through appropriate control measures, addressing or reversing a negative trend before it may result in injury, damage or loss.
- Organize and/or deliver EH&S crew talks and training courses for new employees, technologists, project leaders and management. Mentor employees to increase participation and compliance with the EH&S program
- Contribute to the maintenance of a safe workplace by regularly inspecting work areas, reporting on practices and conditions found and following up on issues identified, including advising and supporting management in implementing and maintaining safe working practices
- Develop and manage effective H&S and environmental programs to ensure permitting and regulatory reporting is completed.
Qualifications
- College Diploma or University Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, relevant academic background or equivalent years of relevant industrial experience or;
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or currently pursuing is an asset
- Must have at least 3 years of Health and Safety work experience in an industrial environment
- Demonstrated leadership and passion for health and safety
- Highly organized, detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient with MS Office
- Proficient in Siteline
- Experience with HAZOP and various Risk Assessment methodologies
- Critical skills needed include system management, auditing, project management, training and influencing others.

Salary Range: $103,000 – $127,000
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
