Trail FAIR Society has openings to join the Early Years Program and is accepting applications for a Program Coordinator.

Early Years Program Coordinator: This is a temporary position of 20 hours per week starting in September 2025 until January 31, 2026.  Remuneration is at FAIR Wage Grid level 12.  For new FAIR employees, Step 1 of the Grid is $29.17 plus benefits as per FAIR policy.  This position reports to the Manager of Family and Seniors Services. This position is in-person, non-virtual.

Job Summary

  • Provide support, education and/or crisis intervention to families with children 0-6 years in our community in group settings from a client-centered and strengths based approach
  • Collaborate with families to develop tools and strategies that are most effective in their response to their children’s behaviour.
  • Co-Facilitate parenting and early years play groups, either drop-in or structured, that promote social, educational and crisis support for parents in the community
  • Provide families with information on the best practices in parenting during the Early Years
  • Provide Ages and Stages Screenings to families with children 0-6 years old
  • Provide referrals for families to additional appropriate services in our community
  • Collaborate with other services in our community that work with children and families in the Early Years

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Early Childhood Education or related Human Services diploma/degree
  • Experience in providing support, education or crisis intervention, ideally to families with children
  • Experience working with children and families 0-6 years old and knowledge of child development particular to the Early Years
  • Experience in group facilitation

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Typical child development in the early years as well as the challenges of children with Autism, FASD, Sensory Processing Disorders and other behavioural or physical challenges
  • The impact of substance use, mental health issues, family violence and trauma on children and families
  • Best practices in parenting skill development such as attachment- based and positive parenting strategies
  • Community resources for families

A valid BC driver’s license and unrestricted access to a vehicle are required.
