Our Organization
The Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy (CBAL) is an innovative, multi-service, non-profit organization providing a broad range of literacy-related programs and services for children, youth, families, seniors, and newcomers.
Position Summary
Local Immigration Partnerships are funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada to develop and implement plans to improve immigrant settlement and integration. The West Kootenay Local Immigration Partnership (WKLIP) Coordinator will lead this initiative by fostering strategic partnerships, supporting collaboration and guiding community initiatives to build welcoming and inclusive communities across the region.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the WKLIP project in consultation with CBAL’s management team
• Strengthen the Partnership Council and Newcomer Advisory Committee with diverse regional and sectoral representation
• Establish subcommittees and working groups directly related to priorities identified in the WKLIP Community Plan
• Promote the WKLIP at relevant community meetings and other regional opportunities
• Organize and lead meetings, trainings, events and community forums
• Facilitate regular meetings for partners, committees and working groups to stimulate the development and execution of innovative action plans
• Develop and implement surveys, focus groups and research projects
• Work with consultants to conduct research and produce reports
• Complete high-level reports for submission to the advisory groups, supervisors and funders
• Identify funding opportunities and develop grant proposals based on strategic needs
• Maintain the WKLIP website and produce high-quality promotional materials compliant with branding guidelines
Skills & Qualifications
• Self-motivated, adaptable and collaborative with impeccable interpersonal skills
• University degree and 5+ years’ experience working directly with newcomers
• Proven experience in budgeting, report writing, research and data analysis
• Strong knowledge of immigrant experiences and community development in the West Kootenay region
• Minimum 5 years of managerial experience
• Valid driver’s licence and the ability to travel regularly between Trail, Castlegar and Nelson
Position Details
• Home office-based, 30 hours per week
• $32 / hour, 46 weeks per year
• Starting date: as soon as possible
