Job Description

Based in Trail, BC, in the beautiful West Kootenays and on the traditional territory of the Sinixt, Ktunaxa, Syilx and Secwepemc peoples, the Skills Centre is hiring a Communications and Marketing Manager.

The position pays $70,000 – $78,000 per year and comes with generous health, dental, RRSP and professional development support.

This position is based on-site at the Skills Centre’s newly renovated office building in downtown Trail.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications & Marketing Manager is responsible for the development of the strategic direction of the organization’s branding and marketing initiatives and leads the design, development and implementation of the communications and marketing plan using a variety of communication channels.

In addition to providing content, the Communications and Marketing Manager identifies changing marketing environments, evaluates outcomes and adjusts strategy as required to ensure goals are achieved.

The Communications and Marketing Manager is also a valued member of the Skills Centre leadership team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities Include:

Communication

  • Leads, develops and implements a communications and marketing strategy that aligns with the Skills Centre’s strategic priorities.
  • Develops content for all communications channels including press releases, blog and web content etc.
  • Identifies opportunities for collaboration with other not-for-profit, educational facilities and other community organizations and employers and liaises as needed to strengthen brand and the Skills Centre’s reputation.
  • Supports, reviews and edits completed proposal packages.

Marketing

  • Develops and implements plans to grow the brand, digitize and integrate new tools, technologies and channels.
  • Identifies changing marketing environments, evaluates outcomes and adjusts strategy as required to ensure goals are met.
  • Responsible for providing direction on channel design, marketing and promotions, analytics and research, communication, brand image and community engagement.
  • Monitors media for mentions of the Skills Centre, trends and impacts that might affect the Skills Centre or inform future programming and services.
  • Works with design companies/agencies to manage the website, portal and other projects.

Leadership

  • Provides support and training on all marketing and communications initiatives to team members. Provides training to clients as required.
  • Responsible for providing direction on channel design, marketing and promotions, analytics and research, communication, brand image and community engagement.
  • Serves as lead on all marketing and communications for the Skills Centre’s programs, services and initiatives.
  • Participates in the Skills Centre leadership team.
