Job Description

The City of Trail’s Public Works Department is seeking a motivated, team orientated individual to fill the temporary full-time position of Certified Journeyperson Carpenter.  This position is to cover a leave of absence and, based on operational needs, could be expected to continue for one year.

Reporting to the Grounds/Roads Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for inspections, planning and carpentry maintenance activities in projects undertaken by the City in the areas of utilities, roads, parks, cemetery, walls, sidewalks, curbs and facilities.  This position will also assist with snow removal duties on roads, sidewalks, stairways and other areas, as assigned by the reporting supervisor depending on weather conditions, seasonal requirements, and the overall operational needs of the City.

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Journeyperson certification
  • Interprovincial certification
  • Minimum of 3 years carpentry experience as a Journeyperson
  • Valid BC Driver’s License – Class 5 with air endorsement; desirable to have Class 3
  • Experience operating heavy equipment desirable

This position is within the CUPE Local 2087 Bargaining Unit and wages and benefits align with the current Collective Agreement.  The current hourly wage rate for the position is $45.10.
