Trail Curling Association – Ice Technician / Bar Manager
Starting in the fall of 2025, Trail Curling Association (TCA) is looking for an individual or couple to be the Ice Technician / Bar Manager for the Trail Curling Club next season.
The Trail CC is the only 8 sheet Curling Club in the Kootenay region of BC.
This job is a 6.5-month seasonal (mid-September to March 31) contract, with remuneration based on experience and certificates.
First Aid and Serving it Right are required, and training will be provided.

Salary:
$3,000 per month maximum / $20-25 per hour
Job Description/Duties Ice Technician:
- Perform all functions related to ice installation at start of the season and refurbish ice at mid-season.
- Perform all functions related to shutdown at the end of the season.
- Maintain ice area as necessary during league play, including scraping, cleaning and pebbling as well as recognizing the need for extra measures to provide consistent curl, consistent keenness, cleanliness and safety of the ice surface.
- Mop/flood/”burn” as needed.
- Clean carpets in the ice area as conditions dictate.
- Purchase and maintain all equipment relevant to the ice making process.
- Prepare ice scraper blades for shipping/sharpening.
- Maintain all curler amenities in the ice area including drinking water, tissues, garbage containers, etc.
- Prepare and maintenance ice during special events such as bonspiels and playoffs.
- Order and collect cleaning supplies including tissues, paper towels etc.
- Order and install water filtration tanks from supplier as needed.
- Contact City of Trail Facility Manager for any and all regular maintenance within the curling ice area.
Be “on call” seven days per week to address any issues that may occur within facility.
Job Description/Duties Bar Manager:
- Order all liquor and confectionery supplies; replenish stock as required.
- Order bar and janitorial supplies as required.
- Take inventory at opening and closing of each season and before and after special events.
- Balance daily receipts from cash register tape and make bank deposit after each curling day.
- Replenish cash float.
- Work with contractors to maintain bar equipment – glass washer, ice machine, cooler, beer kegs/taps/lines.
- Clean bar area two or three times per season.
- Return all empty containers for deposit.
- Recycle all paper, cardboard, etc.
- Wash dish cloths and towels. Clean fridge in kitchen.
- Ensure updated locker rental book is available at the bar and appropriate receipt books are available for locker and ice rentals.
- Clean bar area and equipment at end of the season.
- Arrange for unused supplies and empty containers to be collected at end of the season.
- Contact City of Trail Facility Manager for any and all regular maintenance within the Curling Club facility.
