
Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant
Job Description
We are hiring a bookkeeper / administrative assistant. This is a full time, in person role at our office in Trail.
McEwan Law is a law firm with offices in Trail, Castlegar, and Grand Forks and a long-standing reputation for legal excellence in the Kootenay Boundary region.
Core responsibilities will include all bookkeeping tasks involved in full cycle bookkeeping for a law firm, including for example:
• accounts payable and receivable; invoicing; data entry; bank deposits; bank reconciliations; payroll; government remittances;
• all aspects of trust accounting including completing required payments on time sensitive transactions
• regular bank runs, representing the firm at local financial institutions;
• trust account compliance, including monthly reconciliations and Law Society reporting;
• daily and monthly accounting reports to management; and
• preparing year end files.
Responsibilities also include tasks related to office administration, for example:
• providing back up support to our primary reception staff by answering in person and telephone inquiries;
• managing contracts with suppliers; and
• other work as assigned.
The successful candidate will work under the direction of the managing partner and will provide support to all members of our team.
Qualifications:
– Excellent bookkeeping skills;
– Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MicroSoft 365
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
– Knowledge of Soluno/Actionstep Accounting or other legal accounting software and Law Society of BC Trust Accounting Rules is an asset;
The anticipated salary range for this position is $55,000 to $70,000 annually.
