Aquafit Instructor
Job Description
City of Rossland is offering a contract to an instructor to teach aquafit courses at the Rossland Pool in July and August of 2024. The Aquafit Instructor performs a variety of duties in collaboration with pool staff on site; plans and implements Aquafit classes; provides leadership and direction for programs; supervises classes; provides guidance to groups engaged in Aquafit classes; and performs other related duties as required.
Specific duties of the contractor include:
- Working with pool staff in implementing Aquafit programs.
- Performing building attendant tasks including set-up and take-down of equipment.
- Supervising the safe and appropriate use of pool equipment.
- Assuring equipment used is maintained in a clean, safe and satisfactory fashion.
- Checking for and reporting safety hazards.
- Planning, supervising and coordinating Aquafit programs.
- Maintaining discipline during class, enforcing rules and regulations governing assigned programs and completes incident reports.
- Performing related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Education:
Competence in all aspects of recreation instructions pertinent to program area responsible for, at a level appropriate to community requirements, acquired through practical experience, course work or a combination thereof.
Licences/Certificates:
Certification applicable to Program Area including but not limited to: CFES Aquafit Instructor, Canadian Aquafitness Leaders Alliance Fitness Certification
Pay Rates: $40-60 per hour, depending on level of certification and experience, as per the city of Rossland Instructor Payment Policy.
