Water Smart Ambassador

The City of Rossland is currently accepting applications from students seeking full-time summer employment. The Water Smart Ambassador position is a public education position that will work to provide general information on water conservation education, programs and activities to local residents and businesses within the community.

The Water Smart Ambassador will be out in the community advocating on behalf of City water conservation programs and initiatives for the purposes of reducing overall water consumption in the City. Specific duties to the position include:

• Promoting previous conservation education programs and campaigns as recommended in the City’s current Water Smart Action Plan (WSAP);
• Performing residential, commercial, and municipal irrigation audits and surveys while collecting/compiling/analyzing/reporting on data regarding general water usage;
• Conducting public relations and education activities on new City-led initiatives and projects related to general water conservation through on-site appointments and assessments, local markets and other community events; and
• Completing additional communications and outreach programs within the

Additional duties may also include routine park maintenance, operation of minor equipment and other required duties as assigned. Applicants must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, an ability to work independently, have basic computer skills, be self- motivated and highly organized. Applicants also must be high school graduates and registered to attend a college or university in the fall, while possessing a valid B.C. Driver’s License with a clean abstract.

Successful applicants must be available for employment by mid-May 2024 until late-August 2024. Some evening work may be required. This is a CUPE Local 2087 position with an hourly rate of $23.46 plus 4% vacation pay.
