Brave Beginnings for Newcomers
Brave Beginnings for Newcomers offers recent immigrants personalized employment assistance services, skills training & financial support. You can take up to $1,000 of short term training courses such as first aid, food safe, WHMIS, Super Host or other training you might need. We will help you build your own networks, supports and friendships in your community. Brave Beginnings is available in English, French, Spanish, Gujarati & Hindi.

How it works
You can work together in a small group or one on one. We will help with childcare & transportation costs, we can pay for work gear or equipment, and you get a training wage and a bonus when you complete the program.

Meet your facilitators
Bethel Torres has been part of the Skills Centre as admin support and more recently as our new project specialist. Using her professional expertise, especially with languages, and her experience moving to Canada and finding a rewarding job, she knows how to help clients who are new to the country.
Harshil Patel works at the Skills Centre as a program facilitator and placement coordinator. He is fluent in Gujarati, Hindi and English.
