BC Timber Sales (BCTS) is a unique program of the Ministry of Forests (MOF). Working collaboratively with regional and district operations, BCTS plans, develops, and auctions a substantial portion of the province’s annual available timber volume. BCTS operates as a for profit entity within a government organization. Its goal is to provide credible representative price and cost benchmark data for the Market Pricing System through auctions of timber harvested from British Columbia’s public land. BCTS operations are guided by three overarching principles, forest sector safety, reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples and sustainable forest management. The Woodlands Supervisor leads and supervises a team of forest professionals and contractors that may be responsible for activities such as planning, developing, harvesting, access and silviculture within field teams or functional teams depending on how the business area is structured. The position is the expense authority and manages the budget for the teams. The position may be the face of BC Timber Sales in the communities where there are field teams. The responsibilities of the position and the team members they supervise will vary according to the mixture of geographic, social, economic and timber issues. The position is accountable for ensuring that all operational and contractual activities meet legislative and certification standards (EMS/SFM/SAFE).
A career path in BC Timber Sales offers exceptional opportunities to develop new solutions to complex problems, and to learn and grow personally and professionally.
