
Technologist, Metallurgy & Technology (Temporary 18 Months)
Job Description
Reporting to a Technical Superintendent, working in the Metallurgy and Technology group, the Technologist, Metallurgy & Technology is responsible to develop, manage and lead technical investigations that contribute to the development and improvement of operating plant processes and process control; provide technical assistance to Trail Operations on operating and maintenance problems.
This position will be supporting the Leaching area with opportunities for exposure to other business areas.
Responsibilities: Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures Develop, manage, and lead technical investigations and test programs and contribute to the development and improvement of operating plant processes and process control Troubleshoot issues with existing plant processes as well as laboratory, pilot and/or plant scale equipment Provide technical data compiled from various sources, along with preliminary analyses, summary report and recommendations of the data Lead technical investigations that optimize plant processes including process sampling surveys, measurement of operating parameters and compilation of data from various sources and visual observations Provide technical assistance to Trail Operations on metallurgical and/or maintenance problems Design, construct, operate, troubleshoot, and modify laboratory, pilot or plant-scale equipment Assist with the start-up, process development and hand-over stages of projects Provide technical data compiled from various sources, along with preliminary analyses of the data, and technical assistance to Technical Support personnel, technical or supervisory personnel in Operations
Qualifications: Candidates must be graduates from a Chemical Technology program at a recognized Institute of Technology, hold a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience Candidates are required to have a working knowledge of physical, chemical, and metallurgical processes as they relate to Trail Operations A demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing to the success of a technical group is required Proficiency in computer systems: MS Office, PDH, LIMS, GE Aps
