Job Description

Summary:

The Trail & District Public Library is seeking motivated applicants for a full – time (35 hours a week) Summer Students. The Summer Students perform various jobs focused on sharing a love of literature with children and other patrons, under the supervision of the Children’s Programmers or the Library Director. Description:

Skills and Duties:

• Develop and deliver a children’s summer reading program, related promotional materials and advertising

• Assist in planning and participating in school and community outreach activities

• Create library displays; order and maintain craft supplies

• Communicate through Social Media and the website

• Involvement in Outreach Programs

• General set-up and clean-up duties as assigned

• Assist and answer Riverfront Centre patrons general and directional questions

• Acquire a working knowledge of the library’s policies and procedures and the Riverfront Centre Operations Manual

• Other duties/projects as assigned

Additional:

Work Experience and Education: Preferred fields of study, diplomas or certificates: students in good standing studying in fields of Education or Library Science, or Early Childhood Education. Some teaching experience preferred.

Hours: Applicants must have a flexible work schedule (may include evenings and weekends).

Wages: Wages are in accordance with the CUPE Local 2087 Collective Agreement.
