The Castlegar & District Public Library is seeking Summer Reading Club Coordinators to foster a love of reading, spark creativity and provide an activity rich opportunity for children this summer.

Dates: June 5th to August 25th: 30 hours/week, 6 hours/day Wage: $16.75 per hour plus 13% in lieu of benefits

Duties

• Plan, organize and implement our 2023 BC Summer Reading Club program for children aged 3 – 14. • Create a welcoming club space with craft tables, murals and library books. • Promote the program in schools, on social media and local newspaper. • Plan weekly programs, invite special guests, and prepare crafts and games for all age groups.

Qualifications

• Completion of grade 12. • Between the age of 16-30. • Full-time post-secondary student returning to full time studies in fall 2023.

Abilities & Experience

• Confident communicator. • Experience working with children is essential. • Motivated, mature, reliable and responsible. • Strong organizational skills and time management skills. • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team. • Energetic with an ability to create a welcoming environment for young people. • Comfortable with technology and online tools for delivery and promotion of services. • Arts/crafts, drama and storytelling skills. • A love of reading and libraries.
