Title: Speech Language Pathologist

JOB SUMMARY
To provide high quality Speech Language Pathology services to preschool children at Kootenay Family Place.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The Speech Language Pathologist will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Speech Language Pathology caseload at Kootenay Family Place. The overall goal is to optimize the development of children who have, or are at risk for developing, communication delays or disorders. Key tasks of the Speech Language Pathologist will be completing intakes and assessments, developing therapy plans and goals, carrying out therapy, communicating with parents, documentation and working with other team members.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
A graduate degree in Speech Language Pathology and registration with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC. Previous clinical experience working with the preschool population is an asset.
SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
• Thorough assessment abilities in speech, language, and social communication.
• Ability to plan and deliver effective communication therapy in preschool population.
• Ability to counsel family members.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
DUTIES
• Provide assessment and treatment to children referred to Kootenay Family Place for Speech Language Pathology services.
• Carry out ongoing communication therapy.
• Communicate clear goals and strategies to parents and caregivers.
• Maintain accurate and up to date electronic records on each child.
• Provide consultation and education for Kootenay Family Place staff regarding the Speech Language Pathology program and individual children.
• Communicate with all team members (Therapists, IDP, Physicians, Public Health, etc).
• Collaborate with other team members to develop high quality care for clients.
• Provide regular progress reports on each child to parents and team members.
