Role and objective:

We’re searching for a temporary Silviculture Forester/ Technician to support our Woodlands team over 18 months with the possibility of extension into a permanent position. This position is based at our Thrums office (between Castlegar and Nelson). As a Silviculture Forester/Technician, you will be a key part of Woodlands management while performing a variety of technical and operational duties. Working closely with the Woodlands Team, and leveraging the collegial approach to team work that’s become our hallmark, you will plan and implement reforestation activities on Kalesnikoff Lumber Company’s forest license areas. Plan and implement silviculture program Manage and supervise site preparation, tree planting, brushing and survey contracts Manage tree plant quality control processes Preparation and administration of silviculture budgets and annual reconciliation Preparation and submission of silviculture cost surveys Ordering seedlings and acquiring seed for annual tree plant Accurate and timely silviculture activity reporting into RESULTS and Phoenix Connect Milestone declaration sign off and reporting Preparing, signing and reporting/filing post- harvest site plan amendments Maintaining ArcGIS geodatabases, ensuring spatial reporting requirements are met, mapping/ GIS data analysis and editing related to the silviculture program and/ or assisting Woodlands team Assisting with the development and approval of site plans, cutting and road permits as required


Degree or diploma in Forestry or related field Registered or eligible for registration with the Association of British Columbia Forest Professionals as an RPF or RFT. Enrollment as FIT/TFT will also be considered. Minimum 3 years of experience in Silviculture and/or operational forestry (combined summer experience will be considered) Demonstrated computer literacy in ArcGIS, MS Excel, Phoenix Connect (or similar forest management software), and government applications Strong interpersonal and excellent written and verbal communication skills Class 5 BC Driver’s license Commitment to safety and high environmental standards


Must be willing and able to withstand the rigors of fieldwork in a challenging terrain and diverse ecotypes. Must be willing to work in adverse weather conditions. Must be willing and able to travel to meet job requirements. Must be available to work on the weekends during planting season.

Preference may be given to candidates with:

Experience in more than one operational field of forestry Experience in contract management Additional training/ experience in GIS Silviculture accredited surveyor
