Job Description

The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary (RDKB) low carbon resilient retrofit program focuses on improving the energy efficiency, climate‐resiliency, and climate preparedness of homes in the Regional District. The program aims to assist residents who are considering home improvements by simplifying the energy and resiliency retrofit journey and assisting residents accessing home improvement programs.

The Retrofit Program Coordinator (RPC) will support the implementation of the RDKB low carbon resilient retrofit program and provide guidance to residents undertaking resiliency and energy home improvements.

Reporting to the Senior Energy Specialist, the RPC is responsible for the day‐to‐day administration of the program, work to increase awareness and participation in the program and ongoing relationships with residents and contractors across the region.

While most of the work will be in an office environment during regular working hours, the RPC will also work some evenings and weekends to successfully deliver the program and conduct community events.

This position is 0.8 FTE ‐ The regular hours of work for this position are 28 hrs per week during the summer months and 30 hours per week during the winter months.

RESPONSIBILITIES As a member of the Environmental Services team, the responsibilities of the RPC include:

 Correspond with and support residents through the energy and resiliency retrofit journey. Ongoing customer relationship management.
 Receive and reply to telephone inquiries, written correspondence and other interdepartmental related queries, in a respectful, professional and tactful manner  Assist residents with scheduling home energy assessments, contractor interactions, applying for rebates and incentives.  Provide guidance and information to residents on energy efficiency and climate resiliency home upgrades.
 Support residents to overcome barriers and challenges faced when accessing climate and energy rebate programs.  Support income qualified residents to access energy conservation and resiliency rebate programs. Work with service and partner organizations to achieve this.  Ensure day‐to‐day tasks are completed in a timely, effective and cost‐efficient manner.  Ensure that RDKB website content, outreach and program specific materials are current and relevant.  Support program promotion, marketing, and communications, including working with RDKB communications team to develop progress reports, presentations, and social media posts.  Refine of workflow processes, FAQ documents, customer templates, etc.  Organize and support community and interested parties (i.e., local government, trades and contractors) engagement activities.
 Gather and respond to feedback from program participants & relevant parties.
 Track, analysis data and report on the program delivery.  Keep up to date with other RDKB related services and refer when appropriate.  Other duties as assigned.

SELECTION CRITERIA The required qualifications, experience and training for this position include:

 Degree in energy, climate action, building science, environmental or engineering.  At least 3 years’ experience in climate resilience and energy initiatives, project coordination and customer service.
 An equivalent combination of qualification and experience will be considered.  Considerable experience in program development and implementation.  Experience in coordinating and managing projects.
 Valid BC Class 5 Driver's license.

 Strong personal interest in climate / energy and communities.  Skills and abilities in public promotion, managing projects and conducting research.  Experience developing and/or implementing projects, campaigns, activities and programs.  Excellent communication and customer service skills.
 Adaptable communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex topics in laymen’s terms.  Able to work effectively with a variety of interested parties.  Excellent writing skills, with the ability to adapt language to the medium and audience.  Ability to work collaboratively and deal with a wide range of people.
 Professional written and oral communication skills.  Self‐starter and ability to multitask.  Positive attitude and strong work ethic.  Punctual, responsible, and reliable.
 Computer skills including knowledge in Microsoft office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Demonstrated ability to act with tact and diplomacy while working with the public and coworkers
 Ability to complete the physical requirements of the role.
