The Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK), Castlegar & District Community Complex, is inviting applications for Recreation Program Leaders to facilitate various recreation programs.

Recreation Program Leaders are responsible for the program planning, general safety and overall enjoyment of the patrons attending the programs. Duties include providing a high level of service and a fun experience to patrons with consideration of safety for staff and facility users at all times.

The ideal candidate will exercise care in all dealings with other employees and will provide assistance to customers using the facilities.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 Standard First Aid.  Strong verbal communication skills, including excellent customer service skills.  Proficiency and confidence in working with children 0 to 18 years of age.  Ability to problem solve.  Ability to work independently.  Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.  Satisfactory Criminal Record.

REQUIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

 Community coaching certification, early childhood credits or certification, education or other training/ certification that would provide knowledge regarding ages and physical and cognitive developmental stages.  Skills, expertise and experience leading recreational sport programs, inclusive games and/or arts and cultural programs.  Ability to demonstrate program planning skills and behavior management strategies.
