Based in beautiful Trail, BC, on the traditional territory of the Sinixt, Ktunaxa, Syilx and Secwepemc peoples, the Skills Centre is hiring a part-time (25.5 hours/week or three days a week) Poverty Reduction Program Officer to start as soon as possible after Labour Day (September 5th, 2022). The position pays $26-28/hr plus benefits. This position is based at the Skills Centre office. All Skills Centre employees have access to extensive training and supports.

You must be legally entitled to work in Canada, be a good verbal and written communicator with excellent interpersonal skills. You should have experience of working independently as well as in a team, be able to gather reliable information from a variety of sources and able to summarize information for a range of audiences including local governments and employers. Because the Skills Centre works with vulnerable people, the successful applicant will need to provide proof of vaccination against Covid 19 and be able to complete a criminal record check that gives us no cause for concern.
Duties include: • Planning, developing, implementing and evaluating assigned projects
• Developing strategies and tactics in support of project goals and objectives to ensure success of projects
• Developing networks and alliances in support of projects and project goals and objectives
• Leading and developing original research in support of assigned projects
• Participating in meetings and committees as required
• Providing project reports to stakeholders, funders and Skills Centre management, as requested
• Developing project budgets and controlling associated projects costs
• Acting as project spokesperson, as required.
