The Skills Centre is Hiring!

Based in beautiful Trail, BC, on the traditional territory of the Sinixt, Ktunaxa, Syilx and Secwepemc peoples, the Skills Centre is hiring a full-time (34 hours/week) Program Manager. The position salary is under review but currently pays $72k - $78k depending on experience, plus competitive benefits including a 4-day work week, a generous vacation package, matching RRSPs as well comprehensive health benefits. The Program Manager is a member of the Skills Centre’s senior management team. This is an in-person, on-site position at the Skills Centre’s Trail office. All Skills Centre employees have access to extensive training and are supported to pursue professional development opportunities.

Duties include:

• Recruits, leads and manages a team with a diverse array of talents and responsibilities. • Organizes programs and activities in accordance with the Skills Centre’s strategic priorities. • Conducts contract negotiations. • Develops new programs to support the strategic direction of the organization. • Creates and manages achievement of long-term goals. • Develops a budget and operating plan for the programs team and oversees their implementation. • Develops effective evaluation strategies to assess program and project strengths and identify areas for improvement. • Identifies funding opportunities to support new and existing initiatives. • Identifies suitable partners and collaborators. • Analyzes program and project risks. • Acts as media spokesperson for programs.


• Post-secondary degree in social, natural or physical sciences or education. • At least 3 years experience in a senior managerial role and at least five years experience working in a not for profit environment. • Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP) Designation preferred. • Experience leading or working in complex teams to complete projects.
• Excellent organizational, strategic, planning, and implementation skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Experience with external certification processes (such as CARF or CoA).
• Able to read and interpret complex documents and communicate information effectively to others.
• Experience working respectfully in multi-cultural communities.
