Trail Operations is an integrated lead-zinc smelting and refining complex located in Trail, situated in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern, British Columbia. Trail Operations has over 26 different operating plants and processes concentrates and other materials from around the world to produce more than 290,000 tpy of refined zinc and 70,000 tpy of refined lead. Teck Coal Ltd. is the world’s second largest seabourne exporter of steelmaking coal. We have 4 mining operations located in the Elk Valley region in the beautiful Southeastern Rockies, BC. Our product is an essential ingredient to make steel which is used for building infrastructure as well as for clean energy projects like wind and solar power, to transportation alternatives like rapid transit and buses. Working towards an Undergraduate degree in Chemical, Process or Metallurgical Engineering Comfortable working in a dynamic industrial work environment with a range of engineering, technical and operational personnel Willingness to work outdoors and able to operate vehicles at our operations, in various weather conditions and terrain Motivated self-starter with the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate complex ideas to all levels Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
Participation in the health and safety programs of Teck to ensure that everyone on site goes home safe and healthy every day Accurate analysis and documentation of root cause analysis, strategies, and continuous improvement Seeking ways to improve our process by collaborating with the engineering team and operations on new process development, plant process optimization, quality assurance initiatives, day-to-day troubleshooting and evaluation test work Ensuring a high quality of standards while conducting analysis in the processing facility as well as in the lab environment Assisting with the advancement of technology through bench top testing and thermodynamics simulations Experience in Project Management; able to organize, schedule and control the cost and track the status of projects relating to plant expansions, modifications and maintenance shutdowns Create and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do business
