Job Description

Supports Payroll Officers in administering bi-weekly payrolls in accordance with current collective agreements, legislation and benefit carrier regulations:

Entering, and ensuring accuracy of data input to Unit4 Preparing timely source deduction remittances and reconciling to Canada Revenue Agency reports Running closing reports for bi-weekly payrolls Reviewing contract data for Work-study Temporary Employment contracts, unionized and exempt positions Preparing union dues statements, Canada Revenue Agency payments, and journal entries for computer loan payments, employee donations and payroll import files Assisting with preparation and filing of ROEs, as needed Interfacing and confirming Unit4 data Responds to payroll inquiries, including: requests for assistance from staff and external agencies, inquiries around payroll benefit balances, timesheet discrepancies, reviewing and responding to Canada Revenue Agency discrepancies Provides backup/relief for other departmental staff Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel Good working knowledge of computerized payroll programs, preferably Unit4/Agresso Proficient with data base concepts and familiar with extracting data in report form in at least one type of data base Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Excellent customer service skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent attention to detail Ability to work in a multi-tasking environment Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to meet deadlines Education and Experience

High school graduation 2 years post-secondary education in Business Administration/ Accounting, and 2 of the 3 courses in the Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification (PCP) with the intent of completing the program. Minimum 2-3 years payroll experience This is a 60%, temporary position commencing as soon as possible and ending March 31, 2023. The salary is pay grade 8 - $29.16 per hour - in accordance with the PPWC Collective Agreement.

Reporting to the Manager of Reporting and Planning, and utilizing a service excellence approach, this position is responsible for performing a wide variety of payroll functions including processing of bi-weekly payrolls, reviewing contract data, providing employees with Unit4 support, providing backup/relief support for other departmental staff, and other duties as assigned.
