Job Description

Summary:

I/O Design is seeking a Mechanical Designer with 0‐5 years’ experience for work from the Trail, BC office or remotely. A qualified candidate must possess at least 6 of the following skills:

  1. strong knowledge of Autodesk Inventor software,

  2. knowledge of heavy industrial design including automated machines, materials handling equipment, lifting devices, furnace components, safety equipment such as fall arrest systems and structural steel design,

  3. design capabilities to develop conceptual sketches into detailed 3D designs,

  4. confidence to directly communicate with plant engineers, tradespeople and operators through advanced verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to compose correspondence and other written materials independently,

  5. organizational skills to manage physical and electronic information of multiple projects simultaneously,

  6. previous hands on / physical work experience in an area that compliments design expertise,

  7. knowledge to safely work in heavy industrial facilities including the ability to conduct field measurements,

  8. experience in any of the following

  • Leica 3D Scanners and Cyclone Software

  • AutoCAD

  • Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Office

Description:

In addition to the above skills, candidates must enjoy working as a member of a team comprised of engineers, designers, drafters and project managers, while sharing the goal of developing optimal solutions through a constant exchange of ideas. The desire to learn and use technology to its fullest extent shall be matched by organizational skills. These skills ensure data is managed in a way that can be accessed and understood by all members of the project team.

Strong interpersonal and technical skills will ensure candidates can clearly communicate our engineering and software expertise. By understanding the unique goals of each client and project, candidates will ensure that deliverables meet or exceed client expectations. This will contribute to the formation of long‐term relationships that will both generate the work to directly support the position and contribute to the continued growth of the company.

This position offers the opportunity to join a small and growing company that utilizes leading edge technology to provide engineered solutions that fit the first time to industries including mineral processing, mining, hydroelectric, pulp & paper and port facilities.

As a result of being a consulting firm, we require employees to be vaccinated against COVID‐19 so they can attend our various client sites. You will be asked to provide proof of vaccination, or a valid medical exemption prior to being hired for the position.
